Hounds for the Basket Ville.
As some of you know I have 3 large dogs and 3 large hounds, The youngest is a hound, a Bloodhound/Redbone hound- 50/50, is a handful. T-bone by name after T- Rex cause both are terrible monsters He is almost a year now.
We payed over 5000 bucks for fence and it gave us 24 hours peace, on the 25th hr he was on the other side waving at us. (we didn't pay anything close to that for him, no wheres near that I can assure you, he is the only one who was not rescued in one fashion or another)
So tonight the lights have just gone off and I am heading to bed, I glance down at the middle of the floor and notice a large stuffed toy with a realist tail. Realistic tail? Warning bells start going off in my head.
Hmm the the little devil has found a mummified large black and white country kitty, a polecat, a damned skunk, so old it no longer stinks, that he has been chewing on. He has kindly brought it to me hoping I will exchange it for cookies. Now he wants to give me kisses.
I can only hope I survive till he is a year old in a few weeks, beyond that is a gift.

Black Widow
Black widows, like tornados, copperheads, rattlers, and scorpions are a fact of life in this section of Texas, nothing to get upset about normally, just take care of em and get on with your rat killing.
I am out in the man cave/shop cleaning off the spider webs of the desk top like usual and alarm bells start going off, never did before, don't know why.
Look under desk top, there she is so I grab first aerosol can I can find, she drops, rolls, shakes it off and goes hide. Apparently clp gun oil is good for cleaning and polishing your black widows.
Ok she stays away from me, I keep my hands away from her. Despite what y'all have seen on t.v. they don't hide in closets and jump 12 feet out and go straight for the juglar vein-usually.
3hrs later I notice same type web round the bottom of chair my butt has been sitting in, I am wearing shorts. Remove web with broom, decide to flip over chair and check. Largest meanest black widow has been sharing chair with me, but in the resulting panic this great specimen and prize breeding stock was somehow totally and utterly destroyed.
This is why God has little time to work on the middle east, because He is kindly looking out for idiots like me

Aztlan confusion
Aztlan - the fabled mexican land that composes large areas of the western United States, was 'stolen' by the US, in combat, agreed by treaty and compensation, from the brown man, mexico, by evil white men, Americans...... but the story real does not end or begin there.
You see the mexicans stole it from the white men, Spaniards in combat, who stole it from the red man, Aztecs in combat, who stole it from other red men, various tribes, in combat.
Yet somehow only the Amercans are guilty of some horrible crime?Once again I am confused by our current media's edicts.

Dog T.V.
Dog t.v. - evernight, ok early morning the labrador decievers need me to watch dog t.v. with them. I dont know, maybe I control the remote. We must sit for hours staring into the star lite darkness at their favorite channel. Only to be punctuated occasional by the break, where they rush off like luney-ticks to attack something real or imagined. There is the part where they occasionally sing with or without the neighbors canines or tell the coyotes to get their own t.v. Frequent naps are required. There is also a part where they chase themselves into exhaustion I think over diffrences over what to watch. Then there are snack breaks where they drag me inside to convince me the need a cookie only to drag me back out a short time later. Sub freezing winter nights- hellish hot, dry summer nights- and glorious nights in between, it must be done no matter what I say or how I beg. I am off now to watch dog t.v. on a much too hot July night.

400 years of slavery?
If we generiously count 1775 as the beginning of the US, slave importation was banned in 1807, Slavery was finaly banned in the Union slave holding states by 1866 (the last states where it was legal) How in the hell does this equal 200 or the oft quoted 400 years of slavery in the US? Prior to that the British, French, Dutch or Spanish govts were responsible for it.
It's still confiscation
Once again our friends from the other side of the aisle are showing their complete and udder contempt for our intelligence by try to pull a fast one in the gun control 'debate'. So let's get this clear, RETROACTIVE BANNING LEGALLY OWNED FIREARMS! MAGAZINES AND AMMUNITION IS CONFISCATION!!! Telling someone who bought a legal product in good faith, often from the very government that is now trying to outlaw it, they have to get rid of it or turn it over to the state is de facto confiscation.
You don't own a banned weapon so this does not effect you? How far are we from retroactive taxes? Retroactive criminalization has already happened under the lautberg amendment- people woke up and found they lost their second amendment RIGHTS for a minor infraction that happened over 50 years earlier with no notice or right to appeal. Are you ready to become a 'prohibited person' that is a criminal because of some purchase or minor action from your past with no rIght of appeal nor as in many cases totally unaware of your change in status? This is America that can't happen here! Wake up it already has and will again unless we we rise up and tell our 'public servants' to stop it.

My mistake
Last night the loving wife started shrieking so I figured snake or spider. Kinda late in the year for snakes so I went into the bedroom to look for spiders. It was gone so when I went back out the Mrs asked was it a "fiddle back" (common name local name for the venimous brown recluse because of the fiddle shape on it's back)
How I wish I could close my mouth and think before the little monster in me cuts loose.
I said it was not a fiddle back, it had a violin on its back so I let it go.
Now I cant get back in the house and it is cold out here. It's not like she is using the bedroom cause she is in a hotel till the exterminators get here.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
— C. S. Lewis

if.....
if.......The democrats were the ones who suffered from illegal voting you can bet we would need photo id, finger prints, a retinal scan, a signed note from our parents and a co-signer to vote and it would have been law decades ago!

The crazy summer life with chronic pain
I am currently equipped with chronic pain in several areas of the shell I now reside in. It's basically non-stop but does change in type, frequency, area and degree.
Chronic pain wears one out. Medications, herbs and potions can not overcome the need to sleep and sleep often. Prior to the super heat of summer I was blessed with two periods of sleep per day giving me in effect two days in each actual 24 hour period. Ahhh but add in the heat with extra pain and life becomes a series of a couple hours up a few hours down. My loving wife also has chronic pain and goes through the same, often we pass like ships in the night-one getting up, the other going down.
Ahhh precious night, when the pain is least and there is mild relief from the heat. It's hard to accomplish many task in the dark, neighbors worry about those who brush hog and mow in the wee hours and results are less than perfect. Target shooting at 2 AM is difficult and tends to worry and upset those around you. Most stores are closed but you don't have to fight crowds in those that are open and the occasional drive up window in fast food places make sure we don't starve-choices are somewhat limited.
Television at this time of night is not for the faint hearted. Pretty soon you realize that one exercise machine is just like another, baldness cures, make up products and miracle skin cream all start sounding the same and movies that sucked 40 years ago still suck today. But left to our own devices and blessed with the internet night is wonderful-
One becomes a giant barometer and can sense pressure changes hundreds of miles away. Some of the most painful days are some of the nicest.
I blog and blog but it never shows - off to that weird demension where the other sock in the dryer goes, those great ideas typed into thin air on computers. You look down and the cursor (maybe curser is a better term) that you saw in the box was a trap and your gratest ideas are gone off into the rift. So I will try again to learn this great secet.

my new tablet or I am an idiot
I love my new tab but sadly my love is not reciprocated. My tab chooses when I post and what I post. I am no scholar and make many mistakes on my own but my tab ( and my android phone) take fiendish delight in helping me look like an idiot.
Spell check? only when it feels like it. Consistently insist on its own choice of words. Chooses random words and finishes my sentences in some form of high gibberish. Types off into the void, that great black hole where the other sock in the dryer goes is filled with some of my best work. And still here I sit attempting once more trying to master it, then trying to negotiate with it, and finally in desperation pleading and weeping it. It has no heart but it does have a soul-dark as coal.
So I give up, I surrender, you win again.
And like a drunk in need of a drink I will be back- doing it all over again in a matter of minutes.
help me!
